Jinjer ([ dʒɪndʒɚ ]) is a Ukrainian metalcore - band , which in 2009 Horlivka was founded. The band moved to Lviv in 2014 due to the war in eastern Ukraine .
Their playing style also contains elements of Djent , Progressive , Groove and Death Metal . Jinjer himself mentions other metal bands like Opeth , Gojira and Anathema as well as the Guano Apes and bands from the fields of R&B , soul and hip-hop such as Cypress Hill as a musical influence.
history
In 2013 Jinjer won the “Best Ukrainian Metal Act Award”. In 2016 she won it again, and her music video for I Speak Astronomy was also named the best music video.
In 2014 drummer Jewhen Mantulin fell out of a window on the third floor while smoking and injured himself so badly that he could no longer play for Jinjer.
A year later, founding member Dmytro Oksen surprisingly left. Jinjer decided to move on with the four of them.
In 2016 the band signed a record deal with Napalm Records and released their third album, King of Everything . Under this label there was a re-release of their album Cloud Factory in 2018 , which was initially self- published in 2014 .
In 2017 and 2018 there were two tours through Europe with Arch Enemy . As support of Cradle of Filth Jinjer 2018 toured in North America. At the beginning of 2019 Jinjer was again on tour in Europe with Amorphis , Soilwork and Nailed To Obscurity .
On August 23, 2019, the first single Judgment (& Punishment) of the fourth album Macro was released. The album was released on October 25, 2019 and brought Jinjer to rank 33, the first chart position in Germany.
