Bölzer is a 2008 founded Swiss death metal - Duo . Characteristic of the music is the complete absence of the bass , guitarist Okoi Jones plays a ten-string guitar from BC Rich . So far, Bölzer has released two EPs and a studio album.

Band history

Bölzer was founded in Zurich in 2008 by friends Okoi Thierry Jones (vocals, guitar) and Fabian Wyrsch (drums). At first there were efforts to integrate a bassist into the band, but the founders gave up after two failed attempts. In 2011 the duo released a demo called Roman Acupuncture . Okoi Jones creates the characteristic sound of the guitar by using three amplifiers, each with its own equalizer settings. At the beginning of 2013 the first EP Aura was released via Iron Bonehead, followed in 2014 by another EP Soma , with both releases Bölzer achieved cult status within the Death Metal underground . Songwriting and recording of the debut album took another two years, so that the debut album Hero was released in November 2016 on Iron Bonehead.

controversy

Due to the tattoos of singer Okoi Jones, which show sun gears and runes , the band was suspected in 2014 of being close to right-wing ideologies. Okoi Jones rejected this, citing his African roots and stated that he wanted to save “this positive symbol from the ever more fueled demonization”, because, after all, one lives in a “time of liberal thinking, endless sources of information and general rationality”. Furthermore, Okoi Jones rejected all accusations that he wanted to cover symbols of National Socialism with the large tattoos , as nonsense.
