Mnemic is a Danish - French groove metal band. The name Mnemic is an abbreviation for "Mainly Neurotic Energy Modifying Instant Creation" or modified from the Greek goddess of memory Mnemosyne . The band itself describes their style as "Future Fusion Metal".

biography

The band was founded in 1998 and made their breakthrough in 2003 with their debut album Mechanical Spin Phenomena . In 2004, the no less successful album The Audio Injected Soul , which includes a cover version of Duran Duran's classic The Wild Boys, was submitted .

Their music is audibly influenced by bands like Fear Factory and Meshuggah . Typical of their style , their songs consist of complex, polyrhythmic guitar riffs , hard verses, clean refrains and phrased double bass drumming. In addition, electronic elements complete the sound.

On September 12, 2005 the singer Michael Bogballe left the band for private reasons and was replaced by Tony Jelencovich, whom the band already knew from the bands Transport League and B-Thong.

In early 2006 Tony Jelencovich got out of Mnemic until the end of May 2006 a new singer was found, Guillaume Bideau. Guillaume left his band Scarve for Mnemic in the middle of recording their new album.

Mnemic's third album, Passenger , was released on January 19, 2007.

In 2009, work began on a new album entitled Sons of the System . It was released on January 15, 2010 in Europe and on January 26, 2010 in North America.

On April 13, 2011, bassist Tomas Koefoed announced his departure from the band, followed by Brian Rasmussen and Rune Stigart.

On June 8, 2012, the band's fifth studio album, Mnemesis , was released . It was also the first album that was recorded with new band members Victor-Ray Salomonsen Ronander (guitar), Simone Bertozzi (bass) and Brian Larsen (drums). In November 2013, the band announced that guitarist Victor-Ray Salomonsen had decided to leave the band.

On June 26, 2014, frontman and guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie published a letter to the fan community in which he announced his decision not to dissolve Mnemic, but at least to put it on hold.
