Darkfall is a metal band founded in Austria . Darkfall's style can be classified as Death / Thrash Metal .

history

In 1995 Darkfall was founded in Leoben by Thomas Spiwak (vocals), Wolfgang Koch (guitar) and Marc Weissensteiner (drums) . A short time later, Harald Koch (bass) and Joachim Liebminger (guitar) joined them. The latter, however, left the band two years later and was replaced by Oliver Seebacher. The first demo Winter Leaves was recorded in 1998 in the G-Point Studio in Graz .

In 1999 bassist Harald Koch left the band and was replaced by Christian Kayer. In addition to this line-up change, Christoph Zavertanik was also integrated into the band as keyboardist, and the second demo Dimensions Beyond was recorded in Studio Radwerk 14 in Vordernberg .

In 2000, Darkfall began recording their third release, Firebreed , which was recorded again in Studio Radwerk 14 and finally released in 2001. After Firebreed was released , Christoph Zavertnik and Oliver Seebacher left the band and were replaced by Julia Wernig and Florian Taubenschuss.

In 2003 Darkfall and Julia Wernig parted ways, which led to the fact that the use of a keyboard was subsequently dispensed with. In 2004 founding member Marc Weissensteiner was replaced by Daniel Haberl on drums, who, however, was to leave the band a few months later together with guitarists Wolfgang Koch and Florian Taubenschuss. The vacant positions were filled with Thomas Stock (guitar), Sascha Pick (guitar) and Richard Klösch (drums).

In 2006 Phoenix Rising was finally released as the successor to Firebreed . The sound carrier was recorded in Studio 66 in Gleisdorf , with Thomas Stock being replaced on guitar by Stephan Ritz in 2005. Towards the end of the year, however, he left the band together with Sascha Pick and the vacancies were filled with Markus Seethaler (2006) and Alfred Hollerer (2007). In 2008 the box set Through Fiery Times And Beyond was finally released, which contains all songs published so far as well as a video recording of the live performance at the Kaltenbach Open Air 2007.

In 2009 long-time bassist Christian Kayer and drummer Richard Klösch left the band. A replacement was soon found in Martin Klement (bass) and Thomas Kern (drums). The band's 15th anniversary was celebrated in 2010 as part of an anniversary concert in Graz and on several tours. Guitarist Markus Seethaler left the band at the end of 2010 and was replaced by David Prangl in early 2011.

In 2012 the line-up changed again and Alfred Hollerer, David Prangl and Martin Klement were replaced by Sascha Ulm, Stephan Stockreiter and Markus Seethaler, who returned to the band as bassist.

The album Road To Redemption was released on May 24, 2013 via Noisehead Records . In June 2017, Darkfall signed a worldwide record deal with Black Sunset / MDD Records . The follow-up album At The End Of Times was released on September 8, 2017.

In December 2017, Darkfall separated from Markus Seethaler. A little later Felix Gschier was recruited as a new bass player. At the beginning of 2019, the band finally separated from Thomas Kern, who had only been a session drummer since 2017, and Stephan Huber took over the vacant position on drums.
