Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult (German: " Darkened , nocturnal butcher cult", also abbreviated as DNS) is a German - Polish black metal band. Founded by Onielar in the winter of 1997 in Dormagen , North Rhine-Westphalia , it currently consists of the four members Adversarius, Onielar, Velnias and Horrn.

At concerts the band immediately notice a large, upside-down pentagram . This is attached in such a way that it looks like a dark, demonic halo over front woman Onielar. The rest of the stage decoration often consists of bull skulls and printed flags. The banners show the band's lettering, upturned crosses or pentagrams. The members themselves like to hang jewelry that symbolizes Satanism . In addition to the corpsepaint that is widespread in the scene, blood on the face and body also plays a major stylistic role. The male members also usually appear with bare chests, while Onielar's outfits range from leather pants with rivets to elf-like, white dresses. She wears her blonde, curly hair extremely long, which is why she is also present outside of the Black Metal scene. Onielar can certainly be considered a kind of fictional character, fans often compare her to the so-called banshee from Irish mythology.

Darkend Nocturn Slaughtercult mainly play classic, raw Black Metal. The extremely fast, driving riffs usual in this type of metal are almost exclusively played by the lead guitar, while the bass and rhythm guitar tend to follow an accompanying, medium tempo. The structure of the songs is relatively simple, for example the piece Das All-Eine - apart from the bridge - only consists of two chords. The drums are dominated by the blastbeats and double bass that are common in extreme metal . The band does not have a keyboard player because they reject “synth sounds”. Quieter passages can mainly be found in the intros . There are hardly any interludes. In contrast to most black metal bands, the guttural singing in Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult is taken over by a woman, similar to bands like Gallhammer or Riti Occulti. There is no background vocals.

Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult deal with satanism , occultism , death and evil . Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult also name “pure hatred ” and “blasphemous contempt for life” as sources of inspiration. Members of other, progressive black metal bands are referred to by Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult as "weaklings". The band also says that they would "hold fast to almost forgotten traditions".
