War Anthem Records is an independent label based in Weimar , Thuringia , which has been active since the mid-2000s. It was created in the context of the Party.San festival and has specialized in music from the areas of death , black and thrash metal . The releases of the label are distributed by Soulfood .
Label history
The label was founded in the mid-2000s by Jarne Brauns (co-founder of Party.San) and Volkmar Weber ( Die Apokalyptischen Reiter ) under the name Hangnail Records. After two releases under this name, a double DVD for the Party.San Festival 2005 was released under the new name War Anthem Records . Due to a job abroad, Mario Flicke ran the label from 2007 to 2011, and in 2008 War Anthem Records took over the back catalog of Morbid Records . Since 2011 Jarne Brauns has been managing War Anthem Records again predominantly alone.
So far, Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult and Graveyard are among the label's most commercially successful artists .
