Graveyard is a Spanish death metal band from Barcelona that was formed in 2007.

history

The band was formed in July 2007 after Bastard and Julkarn met drummer Gusi. On August 25th, the band went to a garage in Castelldefels for the first recordings , which belonged to Roberto F. Giordano, who would later design all the covers of their albums. The recordings were finished in Bastards Moontower Studio. After the songs were finished mixing in this studio, they were released as a demo under the name Into the Mausoleum in October. In November SBE joined the line-up as the second guitarist. Through the demo, the band reached a contract with Black Seed Productions in December, through which the demo was released as an EP with an edition of 1,000 copies. In addition to the already known, newly mastered songs, the EP included an in and outro, as well as the bonus song Zombie Ritual , a death cover version. At the same time the band signed a contract with Antichristian Front Records , about which the EP was also released on vinyl, only that it contained a Bolt Thrower cover version with Cenotaph . The cassette version of the EP was limited to 100 copies and was released via Ars Funebris Records . The Death and Bolt Thrower covers were recorded in February 2008 at Moontower Studio. Another new song was recorded with What Dwells Beneath . On March 1st they played their first concert in Barcelona with Obscure, Asfixia and Death Mechanism . At that time the EP was released through Ars Funebris Records and Black Seed Productions. After further rehearsals, further appearances followed in Madrid with the Serbian black metal band The Stone at the end of April . This was followed by another gig with this band in Portugal , where Bloodline was also represented. The band also played at the Portuguese Barroselas Fest, together with groups such as Nifelheim , Enslaved , Regurgitate , Brujeria , Fleshcrawl and Rotten Sound . At the beginning of May another appearance followed in Barcelona together with Fatal Injury . Two weeks later the band played in Lleida together with Between the Frost , Nebulah and Spellcraft at the Sabbath Fest. At the time, the band recorded two songs called Howl of the Black Death and Wormfeast , which should be heard on a split release . In June, Metralla and Körgull the Exterminator performed together . In July the band was supposed to support Forbidden in Barcelona , but this gig was canceled. In the summer of the same year, two split publications appeared together with Terrorist and Deathevocation .

In October 2008 the band played together with Artillery , Necrodeath , Girlschool and Silver Fist in Barcelona and canceled a gig at the Berlin Black Land Festival, where they would have played with Protector , Minotaur , Manos and Morrigan . The band played with Hail of Bullets in Barcelona towards the end of the month . Further concerts with Lie in Ruins and Metralla followed in November . The next day the band went to Madrid to play at Trauma Fest with Dead Congregation , Haemorrhage , Demigod , Vomitory , Regurgitate, Rompeprop , Skepticism and Gruesome Stuff Relish . The first rehearsals for their debut album One with the Dead followed in December . In addition, the band announced the appearance of another split release, on which the group covered a song by Candlemass together with Nominon . In January 2009 the band continued their rehearsals. On January 21, Iron Bonehead Productions released the split release together with Terrorist, whereupon the band could be heard with the song Howl of the Black Death and a live version of Ritual . Two days followed on Nuclear War Now! Productions released the split with deathevocation, after which the group was represented with the song What Dwells Beneath . In February he performed in Sabadell , Spain, together with Horrid and Nominon. In addition, pre-production for One with the Dead began that month . In March the band held further performances, together with Hate in Tarragona , with Machetazo , Hindrance and Pesta Porcina in Barcelona and with Profundis Tenebrarum , Visceral Damage and Kondena in Valencia . In April, a gig with Asphyx in Barcelona followed, with groups like Nominon, Violent Headache and Looking for an Answer . That same month, the band went to the Moontower Studio to begin recording One with the Dead . Per Karlsson from Nominon recorded the drums for the bonus song A Tale of Creation , a candlemass cover. In May the vinyl version of the EP Into the Mausoleum was released via Antichristian Front Records. In the same month, the recordings for the debut album were continued and mixed afterwards. The group also played at the Pyrenean Metal Fest in Perpignan , France, together with Körgull the Exterminator, Cryrsys and Zoldier Noiz at the Glorifying the Grand Beast Fest in Berlin, together with Necros Christos , Morbosidad , Kaamos and Necroccultus . In the following two months Dan Swanö's debut album was mastered in the Unisound Studio and the last work on the album was completed. In August followed a gig in Almería together with Looking for an Answer, Avulsed , Death over Threat and Morvity . In September, One With the Dead was released via Black Seed Productions. The album featured guest musicians alongside Per Karlsson, Dan Swanö, Roni Sahari from Lie in Ruins and Pedro J. Mas Antón from Metralla. In October followed a performance in Sabadell together with Proclamation and Goat Torment. In January 2010 the group played together with Decayed and Dishammer at the BlackSeed Festival in Madrid. The band held two more gigs in February, together with the Swedish band Tormented and Ataraxy in Saragossa and in Sabadell with Ataraxy and Decapitated Christ . In March the band played together with Horrid in Milan and developed five new songs that were to appear on various splits and EPs. In addition, a split release with Redimoni has been prepared, which has not yet appeared. A tour through Sweden together with Nominon followed in May, with three appearances in Jönköping , Sundsvall , there as the first Spanish band ever, and Stockholm . The group also played with Semlah , Tormented and Cynical Hatred. In the same month the debut album appeared on Ars Funebris Records on cassette, whereby the edition was limited to 200 copies. From June 2010 the band took a break to work on new songs and projects.

In September 2010 the band recorded the EP The Altar of Sculpted Skulls , which included a re-recorded version of the song Ritual , which was already included on Into the Mausoleum , and a remixed version of Howl of the Black Death , which was first split on the Split -Publication with Terrorist was heard. The band also recorded the song A Dream of a Million Corpses , which was intended for a split release with Winterwolf . In addition, the band reached a contract for the release of the EP with the labels Pulverized Records and Doomentia Records . In November there followed an appearance in Barcelona at the Antiratzinger Fest together with Körgull the Exterminator, Insulters, Ered , Lux Divina , Foscor , Decapitated Christ and Redimoni. In March 2011 the band played at the Pentagram Fest with Machetazo, the Swedes of Interment , Severe Torture , Ataraxy and Looking for an Answer. In September the band played with Lie in Ruins in Castellón . In addition, Unholy Domain Records released a split release together with Necro . Graveyard covered groups like Motörhead , Celtic Frost , Bolt Thrower and Death. At the same time, The Altar of Sculpted Skulls was released through Doomentia Records. In November followed an appearance in Barcelona with Angelus Apatrida . In the following months he performed in Galicia with Balmog and Wargoatcult at the Holy Hell Fest. Since guitarist SBE could not take part in this performance, Mark Wild from Körgull the Exterminator came to the band as a replacement. In February 2012, the EP The Altar of Sculpted Skulls was released on Pulverized Records, with a limited edition of 1,000. The band also worked on their new album The Sea Grave , recording Of Thirst and Eternal Death and the Paradise Lost Cover Eternal . In June followed a performance with groups like Körgull the Exterminator, Atonement, Onirophagus, Tort and Maniac at the Zineroceous Fest in Barcelona. It should be the last gig with guitarist SBE; he left the band in August, one day before the planned recordings for the second album. The band continued recording without him, with work on the album going on for four months. During the recording, Mark Wild joined the band as a permanent guitarist, having previously helped out the band live. In addition, Cyclone Empire Records released a split release together with Nominon, whereupon both bands covered Candlemass songs. The publication was limited to 500 pieces. The group reached a contract with the German label War Anthem Records , about which the second album The Sea Grave was released in March 2013. In November 2012, Fiar joined the band as the new live singer. During the recordings for the second album, there were also a few more songs that were used for a split release via Selmadegod Records with Ulcer .

style

The band played classic death metal on their debut album, One with the Dead , with the music reminiscent of Swedish groups such as Grave and Dismember . The second album is also dominated by classic death metal, reminiscent of groups like Entombed , Nihilist , old Death , Dismember and Bolt Thrower .
