Severe Torture is a death metal band from the Netherlands that was formed in 1997. The music is heavily influenced by Cannibal Corpse .

Band history

Severe Torture was founded in 1997 by Thijs (guitar), Patrick Boleij (bass) and Seth Van De Loo (drums), who are still with the band today. In 1998 the first demo tape Baptized ... was released. Shortly afterwards, singer Dennis joined the band. In 1999 a 2-song promo was recorded, which was released as 7 " by Damnation Records. In 2000 the band signed a contract with the record label Fadeless Records , which later merged with Hammerheart Records . A first tour was played with the Poland Damnation . Then the debut album "Feasting on Blood" was recorded. The band then played in support of Macabre and Broken Hope on a European tour in January 2001. In April 2001 Severe Torture played at the Ohio Death Fest and several other concerts in the USA . in March 2002, the second album "Misanthropic Carnage" was recorded. this was followed by another tour through America, this time as the opening act of Deeds of Flesh . also on the Ohio Death Fest 2002 they played again, as well as on the New England Metal Fest . a Another European tour followed in October, this time as the opening act for Cannibal Corpse . During this tour the band got to know Marvin Vriesde, who was the second guitarist in the band na Hm. After several canceled tours, the decision was made to look for a new label, which they found in Earache Records. A live album was released on the old label, and the new album "Fall of the Despised" followed in autumn 2005. In 2006 they played at the Maryland Deathfest in the USA, the Party.San Open Air in Germany, the Kaltenbach Open Air in Austria and several other festivals. This was followed by a six-week tour through Europe with Vader and God Dethroned . In 2007 the fourth album "Sworn Vengeance" was released. From September 25th to October 5th, 2008 Severe Torture stepped in as a replacement for Belphegor , who already started their US tour during this period, and play alongside Nile and Grave on Niles Ithyphallic Europe Tour.
