Deeds of Flesh is an American technical and brutal death metal band from Los Osos , California that was formed in 1993.

history

The band was founded in mid-1993 by bassist Jacoby Kingston, guitarist and singer Erik Lindmark and drummer Joey Heaslet. In the following three months the band wrote their first EP, which was released under the name Gradually Melted on various labels. The group then reached a contract for two albums with Repulse Records in late 1995 . 1996 followed the release of the debut album Trading Pieces . The release was followed by only a few appearances, as drummer Heaslet had left the band briefly. However, the band was able to tour Europe together with Incantation , performed at the first Fuck the Commerce and toured the US with Vile and Devourment . In 1998 the second album Inbreeding the Anthropophagi followed on Repulse Records. Brad Palmer was then represented as the new drummer. Matti Way from Disgorge was also a guest singer . This was followed by tours with Dying Fetus through the USA, as well as a tour through Canada . The group also performed at the 1998 Milwaukee Metalfest and 1999 Ohio Deathfest . In 1998 Gradually Melted was remastered and re-released with a new cover. In November of that year the band went on a tour of Brazil , but bassist Kingston could not participate, so Derek Boyer stepped in. Meanwhile, the band hardly went on tour because drummer Palmer had left the line-up. In 1999 Jim Tkacz joined the band as the new guitarist, while drummer Joey Heaslet returned to the group. The band then picked up their next album Path of the Weakening , on which the group had previously written two and a half months. The album should be the first release of Deeds of Flesh on Unique Leader Records , the band's own label. Shortly thereafter, Mike Hamilton was added as the new drummer. In addition, the guitarist Jim Tkacz had left the band after the band had recorded the album and completed a tour of Brazil. Jared Deaver, previously with Impaled and Psypheria , was the successor to the cast. This was followed by a tour through the USA and another through Canada together with Cephalic Carnage , Disgorge and Mortal Decay , a tour of Brazil and another US tour together with Vader , Dying Fetus and Cephalic Carnage. In addition, the group played at the Milwaukee Metalfest in 2002. Meanwhile, guitarist Deaver left the band again. After the album Mark of the Legion was released in 2001 , Aaron Gustofson joined the band as the new guitarist. This was followed by a tour through North America together with Monstrosity and Pyaemia , as well as another through Europe together with Disgorge and Pyaemia. The band also played on the fourth Fuck the Commerce and went on a US tour with Cannibal Corpse , Malevolent Creation, Hate Eternal , Macabre and Cephalic Carnage and also played at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival . In 2003, Reduced to Ashes joined the next alnum. The band then went on tour through Europe together with Hate Eternal, Dying Fetus and Prejudice . Furthermore, the group held a tour of Australia and New Zealand with Psycroptic , before a tour of Canada with Mortal Decay followed. At that time, the DVD Live in Montreal was released , which contained live recordings of the Canada tour, as well as a music video Crown of Souls . In December, the band recorded the album of the same name, which was released in 2005. After guitarist Sean Southern joined the band, they went on a European tour with Monstrosity, Impaled, Vile and Bloodletting and on tour through North America with Vile, Decrepit Birth and Odious Mortem . In early 2007 the Norwegian Erlend Caspersen joined the band as the new bass player to replace Jacoby Kingston. In 2008 the next album followed with Of What's to Come . The 2013 album Portals to Canaan featured two new members: guitarist Craig Peters and bassist Ivan Munguia.

style

According to Islander from nocleansinging.com, the band on Portals To Canaan play a mixture of brutal and technical death metal. The members would play their instruments at a very high technical level, while the tempo , with a few exceptions, remains high. The guttural singing is deep and aggressive.
