Psycroptic is an Australian technical death metal band from Hobart , Tasmania .
history
Psycroptic was founded in 1999 by brothers Dave and Joe Haley. A year later the two recorded the debut album The Isle of Disenchantment with Matthew Chalk (vocals) and Cameron Grant (electric bass) . Originally it was supposed to be a demo CD; however, the band decided to release it as a full-length album. After the album was released in 2001, Pyscroptic were invited to play several live performances in Melbourne .
In 2002 the Red Planet Studios in Hobart recorded the second studio album The Scepter of the Ancients . After the release in May 2003, the band went on their first Australian tour with Incantation .
In 2004 a second tour through all of Australia (with Deeds of Flesh ) and the first European tour (with Dismember and Anata ) followed. Singer Matthew Chalk interrupted the tour and was replaced by Jason Peppiatt. Chalk is currently active on Spawn of Possession .
Before the band recorded their third studio album, Symbols of Failure , they were back on tour in Australia with Hate Eternal . The album was released in January 2006. In the same year Psycroptic toured again with Nile in Europe and with Cannibal Corpse again in Australia.
In June 2008 the band signed a record deal with Nuclear Blast . In October 2008 the album Ob (Servant) was released .
