Mortal Decay is an American brutal death metal band from Audubon , New Jersey that was formed in 1991.

Band history

The band was formed in 1991 and consisted of drummer Anthony Ipri, guitarist John Hartman and singer John Paoline. After guitarist Anthony Divigenze and bassist Brandon Stockl joined the band, the first demo, Dawn of Misery , followed . After that, guitarist Divigenze was replaced by Brian Valenti and a second demo followed with Grisly Aftermath in 1993. In addition, the band held their first appearances along the east coast of the United States . In 1994 guitarist Valenti was replaced by Joe Gordon, while Ron Steinhauer joined the band as the new bass player. Then they recorded the next demo Brutalizing Creations in 1995 . At the beginning of 1996 the line-up changed again: Singer John Paoline left the band and was replaced by Kelly Izquierdo. Meanwhile, the band wrote new songs and reached a contract with Pulverizer Records , about which the debut album Sickening Erotic Fanaticism was released in the spring of 1997 . To promote the album followed a tour with the band Deaden and an appearance at the Milwaukee Metalfest . While the group then wrote new material, the first three demos were remastered and released as a compilation A Gathering of Human Artifacts in 1999. In 2000 the group signed a contract with Unique Leader Records . A tour of North America followed with Disgorge , Deeds of Flesh and Cephalic Carnage . After that, the recordings for the second album began, while Kelly Izquierdo left the band and was replaced by John Paoline, who returned to the band. After that, the group recorded the album Forensic , which was released in 2001. In 2003 Lou Suppa joined the band as the new bass player, before Ed Drozdowsky replaced him in 2005. In the same year, singer Kevin McClintock also joined the band, who replaced Paoline. Shortly thereafter, drummer and founding member Ipri also left the band before Justin DiPinto took over this position. Then the group went to the studio to record the album Cadaver Art . Shortly after the album was released in 2005, a European tour followed with Beheaded , Brutus and Necrocest . In the following years, further concerts and festival appearances in the USA followed. More appearances followed in 2007 while the group was writing a new album. Ed Drozdowsky left the band and was replaced by Monty Mukerji. In 2008 singer Keving McClintock left the band and was replaced by Anthony Schrader. In 2013 the album The Blueprint for Blood Spatter followed via Comatose Music . The band now consisted of bassist Monty Mukerji, guitarists Joe Gordon and John Hartman, drummer Anthony Ipri, who had returned to the band, and singer Danny Nelson.

style

According to Lex Mishukhin from metal-temple.com, the band plays classic American death metal on The Blueprint for Blood Spatter as well as on its predecessors. The lyrics would deal with brutality and Gore issues. The guttural vocals vary from deep growling to high screaming .
