Deaden is an American death metal band from Chicago , Illinois . They play what is known as "Slam Death Metal".

history

The band was founded in 1992 by Ethan Deppe and Drew Stockmann. However, it wasn't until Von Young joined the band in 1995 that Deaden started working as a professional band. A demo with six songs appeared but was not released. Soon after that another demo appeared with the title ".... And the Dead Shall Rot" which was then released. From 1996 the band began to make a name for themselves in the underground with massive promotion and numerous live performances . The debut album "Hyms of the sick" was recorded in 1997 and released in early 1998. The band was then the first band ever to be signed by the newly founded music label United Guttural. After extensive touring, the drummer was diagnosed with tendovaginitis in both arms and could no longer play. This put Deaden's work on hold for the time being. It was not until 2004, over five years after the band's premature end, that the members began to work again. Danny Hughes could not be regained and so a new bassist named Jake Lahniers got on for him. New material was worked on and the second album was released in 2005. In 2006 the third album was released on Epitomite Productions.

Von Young also plays with the bands Lividity and Putrefaction .
