Blood Red Throne ( Engl . For blood red throne ) is a Brutal Death Metal band from Norway , which was founded in 1998. It consists of the guitarists Død and Tchort, the bassist from Emperor and singer Mr. Hustler, drummer Espen "Beist" Antonsen and bassist Erlend Caspersen. As is often the case in Death Metal, the lyrics of the band's songs revolve around themes such as death, murder and horror.

history

Blood Red Throne came about when Død and Tchort toured around with the band Satyricon . With their shared view of morbidity and a strong tendency towards brutal and extreme Death Metal, the search for a drummer began. Freddy "Fred the Shred" Bolsø joined them and the band rehearsed by playing songs from Deicide , Death and Obituary . When “five stringer” Erlend Caspersen joined the band, the band began to create their own material. Tchort brought his collection of individual riffs , which had been written for the debut album of his first death metal band Green Carnation , to the new band, Død contributed newly written material.

Their demo recording, "DeathMix 2000", attracted several offers from record companies and received press attention. The band chose Hammerheart Records . Long-time friend and drummer Mr. Hustler was persuaded to join the band, and two weeks before the start of the recordings he finally agreed.

Monument of Death was the first metal album to be recorded in the dub studios in Kristiansand with producer Endre Kirkesola. It was then mixed by Henrik Larsson ( Amon Amarth , Vomitory ) at Berno Studios in Malmö , Sweden . At the end of 2001 the album was also released as a limited edition under the name "The Suicide Kit" and contained not only the actual album, but also a printed razor blade and a poster. The editions have been hand numbered in a band member's own blood.

In May 2002, the limited mini album A Taste for Blood , containing material from the "Deathmix 2000" demo, was released. It also contained a cover song by Massacre and a song from the debut album. Due to professional obligations, Freddy B left the band at this time and Espen "Beist" Antonsen from the black metal band Slagmark stepped in as a replacement.

The band no longer only rehearsed new material, but was also ready to perform live in front of the audience. They played at the Inferno Festival with bands like Behemoth , Dimmu Borgir and Aeternus , accompanied Dimmu Borgir on their Norway tour, played at the Smash Fest in Poland and with labelmates Exmortem at the Southern Discomfort Festival, while they were also working on their new album.

Affiliated With the Suffering is the title of the second studio album. After the release, the band broke new ground and changed labels. In December 2003, when they were signed to Earache Records , plans were immediately made for the follow-up album. The new album Altered Genesis was finished in October 2004 and hit stores in February 2005.

The third album Come Death followed in August 2007, and Souls of Damnation two years later .
