Angelus Apatrida ( Spanish for homeless angel ) is a thrash metal band from the Spanish city of Albacete . The band was formed in 2000 and is currently under contract with Century Media Records . The band's discography includes five studio albums.
history
Early years
Angelus Apatrida originally started as a heavy or power metal band. A year after the band was founded, their first demo was released with Lost in the Realms of Orchinodaemon . After the release, singer Alberto Gayoso and drummer Alberto Izquierdo got out. They were replaced by Guillermo Izquierdo and Víctor Valera. In 2003 the band released an EP called Unknown Human Being , with which a style change towards Thrash Metal was carried out. Angelus Apatrida entered a band competition that she could win. As a prize, the group was signed by Red Dragon Records for three albums.
Evil Unleashed and Give 'Em War (2004 to 2009)
In the summer of 2004 the band recorded their debut album Evil Unleashed in Madrid . However, due to problems with their record company, the album was not released. It wasn't until two years later that the band re-recorded the album and released it on their own. Angelus Apatrida played numerous concerts in Spain and appeared at various festivals with bands such as Sepultura and Destruction .
In 2007 the second album Give 'em War was released. As with its predecessor, the album was released on its own. Thanks to good sales figures, the band was able to play in neighboring countries for the first time. The band also signed a contract with the German music label Century Media Records . In 2009 Angelus Apatrida toured Spain and Portugal in support of Arch Enemy .
Clockwork and The Call (since 2010)
In January 2010 the band recorded their third studio album Clockwork with producer Daniel Cardoso , which was released worldwide in June 2010. In autumn 2010, the band completed a European tour as the opening act for Skeletonwitch and Warbringer . Two years later, the fourth studio album, The Call , followed, which even reached number 14 on the Spanish album charts. The band went on a European tour with 3 Inches of Blood , for which both bands released a split 7 '' .
style
Angelus Apatrida plays Thrash Metal, which is heavily influenced by the scene in the San Francisco Bay Area and Europe . The band draws further influences from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal , Hardcore and Death Metal . The band's role models include groups such as Iron Maiden , Megadeth , Pantera and Testament . In his lyrics, singer Guillermo Izquierdo deals with social problems and grievances, but also experiences of everyday life. He works a lot with metaphors .
