Bloodline is a Swedish black metal , industrial and ambient band.

Band history

Bloodline was founded in 1998 or 1999 as a project by Sasrof ( Diabolicum ) and Dödskommendanten under the name Fanate , but was renamed Bloodline shortly afterwards . In the summer of 1999 they recorded the rehearsal demo The Firestorm . The two songs contained on it were published in 2001 in a revised version on the EP A Pestilence Long Forgotten .

The band was put on hold and reanimated by Sasrof with Set Teitan ( Aborym , Dissection ), who kept the band name but changed the concept of the band. Nigris, Roger "Nattefrost" Rasmussen ( Carpathian Forest , Nattefrost ) and Nysrok Infernalien (Aborym, Alien Vampires) were recruited for bass , vocals and keyboards . With Infaustus ( Setherial , Diabolical, Raven Fears) as a guest singer, the promo recording New Sodom was made in the fall of 2002 , which led to a contract with Suicide Services.

In June 2003 the debut Werewolf Training was recorded in the Greencastle studio . Dödskommendanten was unable to attend due to other commitments, but contributed the intro and the title of the album, Werewolf Training . This is kept in a foggy and dark atmosphere, which corresponds to the early Black Metal, but has a modern sound through the use of eerie samples and effects, "with constant consideration of the dark roots", according to rock-hard editor Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann writes; he describes the album as a “clever mix of Carpathian Forest, Thorns and Shining […]. Hateful, manic, hysterical, negative - just like Nordic Black Metal should actually always sound, but only sounds extremely seldom ”. The band sometimes uses melodic guitar and keyboard sounds, but they don't lead to digressions. In I Saw a Chapel , William Blake is recited by Peter G. Helmkamp ( Order from Chaos ), the last track New Sodom is an instrumental piece.

The following fall, Bloodline worked on a second album called The Axis of Chaos and wrote a few songs for the rehearsal room, but the material remained unfinished. In 2005 Set, Nysrok and Nattefrost left, the following year Fredric “Wredhe” Gråby (Shining, Ondskapt ) joined Bloodline as lead guitarist and singer.

In 2007, the promo recording Transmissions of Power , intended exclusively for labels , was created, with which the band came to a contract with the German label Blut & Eisen. The band also released the EP The Citadel of Everlasting Tyranny for free download on Misantrof ANTIRecords. This consists of a 27-minute dark ambient title with which Myron C. Fagan's speech about the Illuminati was based. One member of the band subsequently said the EP was not particularly important and the idea of releasing it under the name Bloodline was not a good one.

Shortly afterwards, Wrathyr ( Naglfar , Bewitched, Setherial) joined them, who shared the vocals with Wredhe and with whom the album Hate Procession was recorded. The music sounds more aggressive and desperate compared to the debut album, with little progression and melody. According to the title, the concept of the album is the procession of hatred throughout history and the supplement with violent images of American history, including lynch mobs and the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 .
