Nattefrost is a Norwegian black metal project founded in 2003 . It is a solo project by Roger "Nattefrost" Rasmussen, singer and guitarist of the band Carpathian Forest , who is supported by guest musicians .

history

Roger "Nattefrost" Rasmussen with Carpathian Forest at the Party.San Metal Open Air 2013

The debut album Blood & Vomit was released in February 2004 on the Season of Mist label. The LP version was released via Displeased Records and was limited to 500 copies. On the debut, Nattefrost brought out songs that he thought were too primitive and unsuitable for Carpathian Forest in this form and would have fitted better with the earlier albums; he wanted to hear "a kind of little development every time" with the band. The Successor Terrorist - Nekronaut Pt. I , was also released on June 20, 2005 via Season of Mist.

In 2006 the live cassette Drunk and Pisseskev at Ringnes was released in 2004 on the Fiskegrateng Rekordz label. According to the cover insert, the band's live line-up consisted of Mr. R Nattefrost - Hate and Hellstrings, Dr. Amoque Von Berlevaag - Hellstrings, AiwarikiaR Lancelot (Ex- Valhall , Ex- Ulver ) - Battery and Deathanie Cunt - Bulldozer Bass, with "Hate" for vocals, "Hellstrings" for the electric guitar, "Battery" for the drums and "Bulldozer Bass" stands for the bass guitar. In May 2008, the compilation Hell Noise and Live Terrorism (Rare Traxxx 2002 - 2007) was released on the Fiskegrateng Records label . As the title suggests, it features rare pieces and live recordings of the band's first concert. The CD is limited to 100 pieces.

On May 18th, the Norwegian label Indie Recordings released the split release with Fenriz 'Red Planet, a side project of the Darkthrone musician Fenriz . Taake session guitarist Stian "Skagg" Lægreid supported Nattefrost musically under the pseudonym "Herr Ekkel". The songs from Fenriz 'Red Planet are from 1993. These were played by Fenriz alone and recorded in the Necrohell Studio, where the Darkthrone albums Transilvanian Hunger and Panzerfaust were made.

Various guest musicians played on the two albums, such as "Vrangsinn" from Carpathian Forest, the former Carpathian Forest member Nordavind, Ørjan "Hoest" Stedjeberg from Taake, Carl-Michael "Aggressor" Eide or Sanrabb and Per "Dirge Rep" Husebø from Gehenna .

Music and lyrics

Nattefrost's influences are mainly in Thrash Metal , Punk and Black Metal of the 1980s, he describes himself as the last defender of true Black Metal and speaks out against what he sees as watered down modern Black Metal. Accordingly, the production quality is relatively low and the sound, which comes from simple, strongly dissonant riffs in combination with very rough guttural vocals, is overall cacophonic. The music is kept deliberately primitive and moves similar between medium speed Venom Black Metal and partly continuous blast beat tempo like. He sees Black Metal as not defined by Satanism , but as a call to individuality, “paired with an appreciation of our own homeland, of course. But not to the people who inhabit it today. ”Nattefrost describes himself as a nationalist , albeit without“ crossing the line to Nazism ”, and takes the view that real Black Metal is“ a locally bound story ”and“ can only go out Norway come ”. He also speaks out against “racial mixing”, but at the same time claims to be no racist , to have black friends and to hate all people equally. Nattefrost is seen as a representative of a "new" " old-school " black metal.

Similar to Porngrind , Nattefrost falls back on inserted dialogues from porn films and sometimes contains extreme sexual acts in his texts. Nattefrost also provoked, for example, through appearances in which he wore plastic breasts, high-heeled shoes and tights, and a photograph that shows him naked and in his own excrement; he himself stated that he was on heroin and was in bad shape at the time. The sometimes humorous or self-deprecating references are unusual for Black Metal. For example, you can hear Nattefrost in the song Nattefrost Takes a Piss during urination and at the beginning of The Art of Spiritual Purification during vomiting .

“Nordavind was singing and we were drinking. I stopped him while he was singing and puked. He held out the mic and just recorded it. It was a funny recording that lasted for a minute. "
