Cliteater is a Dutch grindcore band founded in 2001 that plays a mix of Goregrind and Porngrind . The titles of their studio albums are based on the titles of well-known heavy metal albums . A fictional character named Andrej Nicolai is depicted on all record covers .
Band history
Cliteater was founded in late 2001 by bassist Vedran Bartolic and guitarist Ivan Cuijpers. The duo initially started as a pure studio project, instead of a drummer, a drum computer was used at the first demo in 2002 . Shortly afterwards, singer Joost Silvrants and drummer Maurice van den Broek joined the band. Cliteater signed a record deal with the Arnhem independent label Restrain Records and recorded the debut album Clit 'Em All , which sold out within a few weeks. After a second guitarist joined the band in 2004 with Alex “Analex” Albers, the second album Eat Clit or Die was released in early 2005 , followed by a European tour with Dead Infection . In 2006 a split with Suppository was released, followed by a US tour during which Cliteater performed at the Maryland Deathfest . In 2007 Alex "Analex" Albers left the group and was replaced by guitarist Susan Gerl. The German label Morbid Records signed Cliteater, but was unable to release the third album due to bankruptcy . It was released in 2008 on War Anthem Records , which is owned by the Party.San festival. Then Susan Gerl left Cliteater and switched to God Dethroned . Due to an accident at work, guitarist Ivan Cuijpers was unable to play the guitar for a long time, so the band could not perform their first appearances again until January 2009. In mid-2009 bassist Vedran Bartolcic went on a world tour with his partner, during which time he was represented by guitarist Robbie Pennings. At the same time Martijn Sijmons replaced Maurice van den Broek on drums. In this line-up, the fourth studio album The Great Southern Clitkill was recorded. In the summer of 2010, drummer Sijmons left Cliteater because he was not interested in performing live. Clemens Kerssies came for him. After the return of bassist Bartolcic in December 2010, Robbie Pennings returned to the second guitar. In July 2011, a nameless split CD was released together with The Day Everything Became Nothing . The album Cliteaten Back To Life followed in March 2013 .
