Hatesphere is a Danish thrash / death metal band. It was founded in 2000 by members of the previous band Necrosis , which had existed since 1993 . She quickly gained international fame and toured with bands like Testament , Kreator , Dark Tranquility , Mnemic , Chimaira and Soilwork through Europe . The band has also played at well-known festivals such as Wacken Open Air .
Band history
The story of Hatesphere began in 1993 when three school friends Jesper Moesgaard, Claus Nielsen and Frantz Dhin formed the band Cauterized . None of the members had previous band experience, and initially they limited themselves to playing songs from their favorite bands such as Slayer or Sepultura . After a short time they changed their name to Necrosis , and a short time later they were joined by Peter Lyse Hansen, who played guitar and shared the musical interests of the band. They made their first live appearance in 1994 at a music competition in Denmark , even if they ended up in one of the last places, they felt like more. The band started writing their own songs, and in 1995 they released their first demo, Condemned Future .
After a few line-up changes, they recorded two more demos in 1997 and 1998, Disconnected and Spring '98 . The Spring '98 demo was broadcast to a few labels, but no one showed any interest. Except for Jacob Hansen , who was looking for new songs for a sampler for his label. Together with Tue Madsen they then produced the song Addicted Soul , which so impressed Jacob Hansen that he offered the band a record deal with his own label. After further line-up changes and a change of the band name to Hatesphere , they started in March 2000 together with Jacob Hansen with the recordings for their debut album Hatesphere . The recordings only lasted 11 days and the album was ready to be released. However, due to problems Jacob Hansen had to close his label, and Hatesphere had their album ready, but no label that wanted to release it. After two shows together with Testament , Anathema and Mayhem , however, the label Scarlet Records showed interest in Hatesphere , and on April 16, 2001 the album was released.
Instead of an extensive tour, there followed smaller individual appearances with Paradise Lost , Anathema and Testament. Immediately afterwards they started working on the next album, Bloodred Hatred . This was finally followed by a tour with The Haunted , Mastodon , and later with Mnemic . As a preview of their next album, they released the EP Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Black at the end of 2003 , which consists largely of live tracks and cover versions. And in 2004 the next album, Ballet of the Brute , was released, which in turn entailed an extensive tour and appearances at various festivals.
After their contract expired, thanks to their popularity in the metal scene, they were able to sign a contract with SPV within a short time . The EP The Killing EP was released in early 2005 as a "foretaste" of the upcoming album The Sickness Within . In November 2006 Hatesphere went on the "Danish Dynamite Tour" with Volbeat and Raunchy . On April 27, 2007 their new album Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes was released .
On September 17th, 2007, Hatesphere announced that Jacob Bredahl, who was also singer and guitarist for Barcode for a long time , and the band would go their separate ways. Jonathan Albrechtsen then took over his position as singer. This can be heard on the 2009 album To the Nines and accompanied Hatesphere on the official tour of the same. After Albrechtsen left the band in February 2010, Esben "Esse" Hansen ( As We Fight ) took over the position behind the microphone. The album The Great Bludgeoning was finally recorded with Hansen , which was released on September 21, 2011.
The Danish band's ninth album, New Hell, followed on November 20, 2015, and an extensive tour through Europe is also planned.
The title melody of the series Die 2, composed by the film composer John Barry , serves as the intro for live concerts .
