Exhumed is a death metal band from the USA , whose music also has grindcore and thrash metal influences. Texts and cover designs relate excessively and ironically exaggeratedly to splatter topics. The band is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and thus follows a long tradition of Thrash and Death Metal bands such as Metallica , Megadeth , Death Angel , Sadus , Testament or Possessed .
Band history
The band was formed in 1991 by guitarist Matt Harvey and drummer Col Jones. After a few demos, singles and a split CD with a shirt as well as various line-up changes, the band released their debut work on Relapse Records in 1998 with the sonorous and programmatic title Gore Metal , which pays homage to the earlier Carcass albums in terms of style and presentation . After participating in the contamination tour organized by their label and performing a few festival appearances, the band recorded their second album Slaughtercult , the conception of which the musicians described as "back to the basics". This was followed by three US tours, one European tour and appearances at major festivals such as Fuck the Commerce and Wacken Open Air .
After the recording of the third long player Anatomy is destiny in 2003, which represented a new benchmark for the band in terms of arrangement and production, co-founder and drummer Col Jones left Exhumed; In 2004, the extensive compilation Platters of Splatter was released, which includes early recordings of the band. The album Garbage Daze Re-Regurgitated , released in 2005, contains cover songs by more and less well-known metal bands, as well as The Cure and Led Zeppelin , with which the band presents itself from a different perspective.
