Iron Reagan is an American crossover band from Richmond , Virginia that formed in 2012.
history
The band was formed in 2012 from band members from groups such as Municipal Waste , Cannabis Corpse and Darkest Hour . The name Iron Reagan, a trunk word from Iron Maiden and Ronald Reagan , comes from Tony Foresta. He had had this name in mind for a long time. Since Foresta found Reagan to be particularly villainous and he had ruled in the 1980s, a time when punk and metal met, he found the name appropriate for the band. This was followed by the release of a first demo in 2012, as well as the debut album Worse Than Dead in 2013 via A389 Records and in 2014 a split release together with Exhumed on Tankcrimes Records . The band also recorded their second album at the Blaze of Torment Studios in Richmond. The sound carrier was produced by the band themselves and mixed by Kurt Ballou from Converge . Then the band went on tour through the USA in April 2014 together with Ghoul and Occultist . In September 2014, the second album was released under the name Tyranny of Will on Relapse Records .
style
In his review of The Tyranny of Will , Rock Hard's Ronny Bittner stated that the album was heading in a direction similar to Municipal Waste and described the music as a crossover of hardcore punk and thrash metal . However, compared to Municipal Waste, the music is "much more serious, punky and aggressive". The songs are usually very short, so that the group only exceeds the two-minute limit with two songs. The singing is often incomprehensible. Denise Borders of punkworldviews.com saw it similarly in her review of Worse Than Dead . Songs are short and fast and a mixture of Thrash Metal and Hardcore Punk. In addition, in contrast to Municipal Waste, Iron Reagan treats less of the celebration of parties.
