Cannabis Corpse is an American death metal band from Richmond , Virginia that was formed in 2006.

history

The band was formed in the summer of 2006 by bassist and guitarist Phil "Land Phil" Hall and drummer Josh "Hallhammer" Hall. Together they wrote the first songs, while the singer Andy "Weedgrinder" Horn, who lived with the two of them in the same apartment, joined them. Together they recorded the debut album Blunted at Birth , which was released through Forcefield Records . Due to the positive feedback, the band was able to perform live, which is why Nick “Nikropolis” Poulos joined the band as a guitarist. Several appearances followed, including two European tours . In 2008 the album Tube of the Resinated was released , followed by the EP The Weeding in 2009 and the album Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shalt Rise mixed by Erik Rutan in 2011 . During this time, the band also continued to play concerts and performed on the Brutal Assault in 2011 . In 2012 Horn and Poulos left the band, after which Brent "Legion" Pergason took over the guitar and sang Hall. Temporarily, Randy Blythe had previously taken on the vocals for a show in honor of the late Gwar guitarist Cory Smoot. In early 2013, the band received a contract with Season of Mist , about which all previously released records were re-released. In mid-2014, the new album From Wisdom to Baked was released on this label . The album title is a reference to the album name From Wisdom to Hate by Gorguts .

style

According to the band biography on season-of-mist.com , bands like Cannibal Corpse , Morbid Angel , Deicide and Obituary are among the band's influences. According to Tom Küppers, From Wisdom to Baked deals with cannabis use in a humorous way . The music is classic death metal.
