Hermann Albert Hanekom

Hermann Albert Hanekom (born August 22, 1940 in Sea Point near Cape Town ) is a former South African diplomat.

Life

Hanekom began in 1966 as a third-class legation secretary in Bern . In 1970 he was on the Ministerial Council in the Department of Africa, Botswana , Lesotho , Swaziland , Indian Ocean Islands. At the UN headquarters he was on the Legation Council from 1972 to 1978. For two years, from 1976 to 1978, he was a member of the Ministerial Council in the Information Department in Pretoria. In 1980 he was represented on the Legation Council in Rome, and a year later in Paris. He was the deputy director of the Africa department in 1985. Hanekom was ambassador to Kinshasa ( Zaire ) from 1989 to 1993 . From August 12, 1993 he was accredited in the same capacity in Brazzaville and had exequatur as consul in Rwanda . He was Deputy Director of the Africa Department, Organization for African Unity and Security from 1994 to 1996.
