Bassnectar (born February 16, 1978 , real name Lorin Ashton ) is an American DJ , live act and music producer .

Life

Ashton grew up in California in the San Francisco Bay Area . He went to his first rave party at the age of 17 , where he developed an inclination for electronic music and shortly afterwards began producing music himself. In the mid-1990s he was a short bassist with the death metal band Exhumed . After playing as "DJ Lorin" at the beginning, he changed his name to "Bassnectar" in 2002. His style of music is not purely electronic, but shaped by many styles of music, such as metal or punk . He is characterized by changing tempos and the integration of different genres in his live performances.

Bassnectar regularly organizes events, so-called bass centers . He hangs up as a live act for two to three days . He's rarely seen at festivals lately.
