Layment (English layment [ˈleɪmənt] "Laientum") is a German heavy metal band from Herne in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The band was founded in 1996 as the school band "Valorénén", which played female-fronted melodic metal. After a few line-up changes, a stable line-up settled down and the band was renamed “Layment”. From this phase of the band comes the first live recording of the band RIB as well as the simple demo 2000titled first studio recording. After a temporary breakup of the band, a new beginning followed in mid-2001 with an almost complete new line-up. Only guitarist Tobias Schmidt and his brother, bassist Julian Schmidt, were now in the band. From now on a male voice could be heard for the first time, the youngest Schmidt brother Marosh took over the vacant position at the microphone, keyboardist Kris Krajewski joined shortly afterwards. In 2006 the band signed a record deal with Yonah Records , which has so far released all of the band's studio albums. After further changes, since the end of 2017 Layment has consisted of the three Schmidt brothers and their comrades-in-arms Benjamin Burschei on guitar, Kristian Krajewski on keyboard and Julian Weikl on drums.

style

The band from the Ruhr area plays traditional heavy metal of a dark color. The hallmarks are very catchy, melodic choruses and mostly clear vocals.
