Band history

The Answer was founded in the spring of 2000 by Paul Mahon and his school friend Micky Waters. Cormac Neeson was recommended to the two as a singer, who was working in bar bands and pizzerias in New York at the time . They wrote to him and asked if he wanted to join the band. Although everyone involved was very enthusiastic, the project didn't really want to develop at first until Neeson enrolled in college for a course on ethnomusicology. On the first day of class, Neeson said he could play the guitar . He then got a Brazilian instrument called the Cavalcanto. However, since he had no idea what to do with it, he turned around and asked the man behind him if he could exchange this instrument for a tambourine . The man was Paul Mahon.

Mahon, Waters and Neeson then pushed their project forward again. A few months later the band was completed by drummer James Heatley. In 2002 The Answer released the first EP Breakdown Honey in Ireland . A year later the second EP End Your Day on A High was released there . Some of the major Irish radio stations played the songs Tonight and Always in Heavy Rotation included on this release . The Answer then went on a major tour of Ireland and played 52 concerts.

In 2006 The Darkness and Alter Bridge invited the band to join their winter tour. In addition, the musicians recorded three demo EPs and sent them to all sorts of interested parties. Eventually Dave Bedford decided to manage the band. That brought her to a contract with Albert Productions . She published the keep-Believin -EP and the single Never Too Late in 2005 and thus got the chance as the opening act for Deep Purple and Whitesnake to play. That same year she was named Best New Band 2005 by Classic Rock Magazine . On June 26, 2006, their first album Rise was finally released. The Classic Rock Magazine called the album already " The best british rock début of the decade " (the best British rock debut of the decade). The Kerrang magazine wrote: " The Answer are superstars already; it'd be cruel not to make their dreams come true ”(The Answer are already superstars; it would be cruel not to let their dreams come true).

The Answer was hired to play the Phil Lynott Memorial Benefit Concert , held in honor of the late Thin Lizzy singer and bassist . Phil Lynott's mother turned out to be a big fan of the band. She invited the four musicians and, for the first time since the death of her son in 1986, opened the case with his son's legendary black bass and asked Micky Waters to play on it. The video for Keep Believin shows the bass player with the instrument. In February 2009 The Answer released the second album Everyday Demons . The songs On and On and Tonight were released as the first singles . In June 2011 a DVD including a bonus CD was released under the title 412 Days of Rock N 'Roll , which contains nine music videos and a concert recording from the joint tour with AC / DC. A cover version of the Rose Tattoo classic Rock N 'Roll Outlaw and Fooled Me are represented as songs.

Others

The band stepped in for Amy Winehouse at short notice as the opening act for the Rolling Stones at their Germany appearance in Düsseldorf during the Bigger Bang tour. The Answer only played works from the album Rise during the fifty-minute gig .

In 2009, the band performed as the opening act for the Black Ice World Tour of AC / DC on.
