Alter Bridge is an American rock band that emerged from the instrumentalists of the band Creed and the singer of The Mayfield Four .

history

In 2004, the former Creed members Mark Tremonti (guitar), Scott Phillips (drums) and Brian Marshall (bass) together with Myles Kennedy (vocals, guitar) founded the band "Alter Bridge", the style of which is partly based on the previous band Creed, but sounds more metallic. In contrast to Creed, Alter Bridge plays significantly more guitar solos. While Scott Stapp often dealt with the Christian faith at Creed, there are only a few references to it at Alter Bridge.

With their first album One Day Remains they toured Europe and the USA in autumn 2004. In 2005 they were on tour with the group 3 Doors Down in the USA and Europe. In 2008 they were in Europe twice and, like two years before, performed at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park .

One Day Remains ( Wind-Up Records ) is the band's debut album. It was released on August 10, 2004. The album climbed to number five on the album charts in the USA. In Germany, the album was in the Top 100 at number 61, in Switzerland at number 54. In spring 2006, Alter Bridge parted ways with Wind-Up Records , and on July 9, 2007, Alter Bridge signed a new record deal with Universal Republic Records .

The album Blackbird was released on October 9, 2007 in the USA, the first single Rise Today was released on July 30, 2007. In Germany, Alter Bridge's second album was released on November 2, 2007. The new album was not just a switch the producer but also changed the songwriting process. Mark Tremonti wrote One Day Remains almost entirely on his own, at Blackbird he shared the work with Kennedy, who now also recorded some guitar parts himself, including a longer solo part in the song Blackbird .

The third studio album was released on October 8, 2010 in Germany and is called AB III . With the new album there was another label change. In Europe, Alter Bridge will be working with the Roadrunner label in the future , an official press release on the label for the new album in the USA is still pending. The first single is called Isolation and can be heard in full as a stream on the Roadrunner website. The European tour began in Great Britain in October , and in November they also traveled to Germany. In early 2011, Alter Bridge will tour the US. In 2011 they performed again at the German music festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park . In October 2011 they will continue their tour in Germany.

The band began recording their fourth studio album Fortress in April 2013 , which was released in Germany on September 27th. The band then played a tour in Europe, including four German cities, in October and November with Halestorm . In 2014 they were at Rock am Ring for the third time .

In 2016 the fifth studio album The Last Hero was released , with the first single Show Me a Leader . The album was significantly influenced by the US election campaign between Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton . Between the albums Fortress and The Last Hero , Mark Tremonti worked on his third solo album , while Myles Kennedy worked with Slash on the album World on Fire .

Working with WWE

The song Metalingus from the album One Day Remains was the run-in music of the WWE superstar Edge . Find the Real from the same album is the theme song of PPV's Royal Rumble 2005, Open Your Eyes was used as the theme for Diva Search 2005. The first single from the Blackbird album , Rise Today , is the theme song for the 2007 PPV Unforgiven.
