AB III (short for Alter Bridge III ) is the third studio album by the American rock band Alter Bridge .
History of origin
In 2009 Creed were reunited and released their comeback album Full Circle . Although Alter Bridge - except for Myles Kennedy - consisted of Creed members, it was decided to keep the band and record a new album. On June 21, 2010 the band announced that the songs had been recorded and only the song titles, the album title, the track list and the cover were not yet ready. AB III was released worldwide through Roadrunner Records . Only in North America was the publication via Capitol Records . Thus, the band changed a record company for the third time for their third album. Like its predecessor Blackbird, the album was produced by Michael Baskette . On September 26, 2010, the first single Isolation was released , which was also the only single on the album that was released worldwide. In Australia and Germany was additionally I Know It Hurts decoupled, in the United States appeared Ghost of Days Gone By , in the UK and Germany Wonderful Life , and again in the UK Life Must Go On . There were also music videos about Isolation and Wonderful Life .

Rock-hard editor Thomas Kupfer was of the opinion that Alter Bridge had left their "alternative roots" with AB III and would focus on "contemporary hard rock". However, he said that this time the material was less superficial and would only reveal itself to the listener after several iterations. He awarded eight out of ten possible points. Dennis Piller from Metal1.Info said that it would be positive that the band had deviated from the style of their first two albums and that even old fans would be enthusiastic about the album after a few runs. He awarded nine out of ten points.

The US version also received the bonus tracks Zero and Home . The Japanese edition also featured the song Never Born Follow . All bonus tracks are also included in the special edition AB III.5 . This also contains the one-hour documentation One By One .
