Blackbird is the second studio album by the American rock band Alter Bridge .
History of origin
The band had already completed the lyrics in 2006 and began recording shortly afterwards. However, the contract with Wind-Up Records was dissolved and a new contract was signed with Universal Republic. Ben Grosse, who produced the first work One Day Remains , was replaced by Michael Baskette , who had already produced albums for Iggy Pop and Story of the Year , among others . As singles were Rise Today , Watch Over You and Before Tomorrow Comes decoupled. All singles, with the exception of Before Tomorrow Comes , had music videos. In Great Britain, the single Ties That Bind was also released, for which no music video was shot either. Blackbird was released on October 7, 2007, and sold an estimated 227,000 copies through 2008.

reception
Rock Hard's Buffo Schnädelbach believed that the long hiatus would have been good for Blackbird and that the band had developed their style instead of copying the success pattern of One Day Remains . He awarded nine out of ten points. Bastian Voigtländer from metal.de said that the songs were not bad and not boring, but thought that after a strong start there would be a slight disillusionment. He named Rise Today and Blackbird as tips for playing, among others, and awarded seven out of ten points.
