Myles Kennedy (born November 27, 1969 in Boston , Massachusetts ; actually Myles Richard Bass ) is an American singer and guitarist .
Life
Kennedy moved to Spokane , Washington as a child and grew up in a Christian family on a farm. His father Richard Bass died when Myles was four years old. His mother then married a chaplain and the family took the surname Kennedy. Kennedy attended Mead High School and found musical inspiration with Led Zeppelin , Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder . He started playing the trumpet at the age of ten and the guitar at fifteen. He got to know the guitar by copying Jimmy Pages playing style. He found his singing voice by listening to his parents' record collection, which included recordings by Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. He was also influenced by Robert Plant . He played guitar in a jazz band and trumpet in a brass band. He also spent time in a local heavy metal band called Bittersweet with some of his classmates. After graduating in 1988, he studied music at Spokane Falls Community College.
Kennedy is the current singer in the band Alter Bridge , which was formed from three members of the band Creed . Myles previously sang with The Mayfield Four . He studied jazz guitar and has a vocal range of four octaves due to regular singing training. In addition to Mark Tremonti , he plays the rhythm guitar at Alter Bridge.
In 2001 Kennedy also had a supporting role in the movie Rock Star .
In 2009 he sang as one of several guest musicians on the album Slash by Slash and singer was at the Tour 2010/11. In 2012 Slash released the studio album Apocalyptic Love and 2014 the studio album World on Fire, which was released under the artist name Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators .
In 2014 it was announced that he had met Led Zeppelin members John Paul Jones , Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham in 2008 to play their songs together. Since Robert Plant did not want to go on tour with the band after the Led Zeppelin reunification in 2007, a project with another singer was planned. The two other candidates known so far were Chris Cornell and Steven Tyler . However, nothing came of this plan.
