Silvertide is an American hard rock band from Philadelphia , Pennsylvania . Together with The Answer , the Tokyo Dragons , Doomfoxx and others, the band is one of the representatives of the so-called New Golden Generation of rock music, which has been continuing this genre since the beginning of the 21st century, unaffected by the effects of grunge hype. The tradition and success of bands such as Led Zeppelin , Deep Purple , Aerosmith , Tesla , Guns N 'Roses and Black Crowes are linked .

Band history

Silvertide was founded in January 2001 in northeast Philadelphia. As a 16-year-old singer Walt Lafty and lead guitarist Nick Perri had written rock songs together in his basement. The two of them met again by chance on a jam evening in a music bar, Perri was accompanied by rhythm guitarist Mark Melchiorre, Lafty had drummer Kevin Frank with him. It was quickly decided to join forces under the temporary name Vertigo. A little later, Brian Weaver completed the band as bassist , which was henceforth called Silvertide. While still in high school, the quintet performed in rock clubs in Philadelphia. Just six months after the band was founded, the newcomers had their first concert with Aerosmith . As a support act , they then went on a world tour with Aerosmith. Their first EP , American Excess , was released in 2002. The following summer, the band recorded their first full album Show and Tell in Los Angeles , which was released in 2004. Oliver Leiber , who has been in the music business for decades (among others, worked for Aretha Franklin , Rod Stewart and Paula Abdul ) was responsible for the CD as the producer , who recognized the trend towards the return of blues-influenced rock music at the beginning of the 21st century. The first single Is not Comin 'Home rose after publication to number 6 of the Billboard - Charts , the song Blue Jeans placed on rank 12, the single Devil's Daughter landed at No. 19. The Stuff Magazine wrote about the first Silvertide plate : Show and Tell is strong enough to push Silvertide into being the next giant rock band ( Show and Tell is to get strong enough Silvertide as far forward to be the next giant rock band). In 2004, NME Magazine named them the wildest rock 'n' rollers since Guns N 'Roses (the wildest rock' n 'rollers since Guns N' Roses).

Little by little, great rock stars became aware of Silvertide. This was followed by joint concerts with Van Halen , Alice Cooper , Aerosmith , Mötley Crüe and Velvet Revolver . The band's main fan and mentor was Sammy Hagar , who helped Silvertide buy their first tour bus. On November 6, 2005, singer Walt Lafty made a highly acclaimed appearance in Germany when he was accompanied by Carlos Santana on the Saturday evening show Wetten, dass ..? sang the song Just Feel Better and stood in for Steven Tyler , who was unable to attend. As part of an image campaign for the iPod MP3 player , the band took part in a photo shoot for Rolling Stone Magazine in the Mojave Desert . The location of the photo shoot is known to cineastes from the film Kill Bill . Silvertide contributed cover versions of the Bob Dylan classics It Ain't Me Babe and Maggie's Farm to the soundtrack of M. Night Shyamalan's film The Lady in the Water . The song Ain't Comin 'Home was included in the soundtrack of the video game Playboy : The Mansion .

British Classic Rock Magazine named the band The best album of the year in its January 2006 issue . .. you didn't hear in 2005 (the best album of the year that you couldn't hear in 2005 ), referring to the fact that the record Show and Tell was late on the European market. In August 2006, after a concert at the AmsterJam Festival in New York , Silvertide ended their tour to begin studio recording of their second album.
