Kenneth Hall

Sir Kenneth Octavius ​​Hall ON , GCMG , OJ (born April 24, 1941 in Lucea , Jamaica ) was Governor General of Jamaica from February 15, 2006 to February 26, 2009 . He has worked at various universities in the United States, Canada and Jamaica.

Hall was originally a teacher in Lucea. From 1966 to 1973 he worked in various positions at the University of the West Indies and Queen's University in Canada. In 1974 he received a professorship at the Hobart and William Smith Colleges in New York . He later moved to the State University of New York , where he held high administrative positions. The high point of his academic career is the vice presidency of the University of the West Indies in Kingston .

On February 15, 2006, he was appointed Governor General by Elizabeth II on the recommendation of Prime Minister Percival J. Patterson . In this office he represented the Queen in ceremonial duties and appointed ministers on behalf of the Prime Minister. He resigned from office in February 2009 for health reasons. He was succeeded by Patrick Allen .
