Lucea is a port city on the north coast of Jamaica , on the edge of Tom Pipers Bay . Lucea is the capital of Hanover Parish , in 2001 6,002 people lived there. Acting Governor General of Jamaica Kenneth Hall was born here, as was the painter and writer Barrington Watson .
In the 18th century there was a sugar processing center here. The protected and well-developed harbor was mainly used for the export of bananas until the 1960s. Today mainly spices and wood are exported.
