The Rotted (until 2008: Gorerotted ) is a British death metal and goregrind band that was founded in 1997.
Band history
Gorerotted was founded in 1997 in London by six musicians who initially appeared under different pseudonyms . On the self-financed EP Her Gash I Did Slash , released in 1998 , the band offered a mixture of crustcore and grindcore with excessively brutal splatter lyrics . A little later, the short-lived independent label Dead Again signed the band and released their debut album Mutilated in Minutes in 2000 . Gorerotted then switched to Metal Blade Records , where the studio album Only Tools and Corpses (2003) was released in 2003 . There followed a US - tour with Cannibal Corpse , 2005, the third album was released A New Dawn for the Dead . A tour with Obituary , Gojira and Cryptopsy followed in the summer of 2006, and in spring 2007 the band toured the USA with Pungent Stench . With Gian Pyres (ex- Cradle of Filth ), the line-up was supplemented by a second guitarist in autumn 2007, and drummer Jon Rushforth left the group in early 2008 and was replaced by Nate Gould. After these line-up changes, Gorerotted changed the band name to The Rotted in early 2008. For founding member and singer Ben McCrow, this was a logical step due to the musical and lyrical development of the group, and fans had previously called them The Rotted for short . Under the new name Metal Blade released the next album Get Dead Or Die Trying in June 2008 . Numerous festival appearances followed, including a. at Wacken Open Air and at Summerbreeze . In mid-2010, The Rotted released the self-funded EP Anarchogram , followed by a tour with Grave and Misery Index . In early 2011, work began on the next studio album, which was released in 2012 under the title Ad Nauseam by Candlelight Records .
