Misery Index is an American death metal band with political lyrics.
Band history
Misery Index was founded in 2001 by Jason Netherton ( bass ) and Mike Harrison ( guitar ). As a drummer they get Kevin Talley, who - like Netherton - used to play with Dying Fetus . They released the EP Overthrow together and then brought on a former Dying Fetus member, namely Sparky Voyles (electric guitar). A split EP with Commit Suicide follows , after which Harrison and Talley leave the band - only the drum position was then replaced with Matt Byers (formerly Severed Head ). A split EP with Structure of Lies was released before the recordings for the debut album Retaliate finally began in 2003 ; Before the release, Bruce Greig joined the line-up as the second guitarist - he was also formerly with Dying Fetus. The long player was well received by critics and fans at the end of 2003 and with Nuclear Blast they got their backs from a big metal label at the same time. Misery Index released their new CD in May 2006 on Relapse Records and this kept the style of Grindcore, Hardcore and Death Metal, combined with socially critical and left-politically oriented lyrics. The CD was named Discordia .
In 2008 the album "Traitors" was released. On this one can also hear Tomas Lindberg ( At the Gates , Disfear ). In May 2010, Heirs to Thievery was released , to which the singers of Dying Fetus and Hate Eternal also contributed vocals. The current album The Killing Gods was released on May 23, 2014 .
