Disfear is a Swedish D-beat band from Nyköping that was founded in 1989 under the name Anti-Bofors , disbanded in 1993 and reunited in 1994.

history

The band was founded under the name Anti-Bofors in 1989 and consisted of guitarist Björn Pettersson, bassist Henke Frykman, as well as a drummer and singer not known by name. The band released an EP called Anti-Bofors . A short time later, singer Jeppe Lerjerud joined the line-up and the band was renamed Disfear. In 1992 the band went to Sunlight Studios with producer Tomas Skogsberg to record their first self-titled single. A year later the first EP followed with A Brutal Sight of War , before it split up in 1993 for the time being. At the end of 1994 the band came together again, with Jallo Lehto as the new drummer. The album Soul Scars was released a year later via Distortion Records . The release was followed by a tour of Sweden. Then she played concerts in England with Doom . The band then played other concerts in Sweden together with Breach , Raised Fist , Monster and Legal Weapon . Meanwhile, drummer Lehto left the band and was replaced by Robin Wiberg. This was followed by a European tour , where she also appeared together with DRI and GBH . With Everyday Slaughter , the next album followed in 1997 via Osmose Productions . The release was followed by a tour through Sweden with Gehennah . Together with Dismember , another tour followed through Europe, before singer Lerjerud left the band in March 1998. Tomas "Tompa" Lindberg (ex- Grotesque , ex- At the Gates , Nightrage , Lock Up , The Great Deceiver ) joined the band as a replacement . With Marcus Andersson, a new drummer also joined the line-up. After the band terminated their contract with Osmose Productions, they worked on new songs. Then it became quiet around the band before the album Misanthropic Generation was released in August 2003 . The release was followed by a tour with Entombed and Nine . Entombed guitarist Uffe Cederlund joined the cast for another tour towards the end of the year. Other members of the band were guitarist Björn Peterson, bassist Henke Frykman and drummer Marcus Andersson. In March 2005 the band toured Scandinavia with Rotten Sound and recorded a split release with Zeke in the same year . This was followed by a tour of North America , together with Phobia , Strong Intention and 9 Shocks Terror . After a short break, the band returned to the studio in August 2007. Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou worked as a producer. The album Live the Storm followed in mid-January 2008 .

Former bass player Henke Frykman died of cancer in 2011.

style

The band was heavily influenced by the music of Discharge in their early days , which their name Disfear alludes to. In the further course of the band the influences of death metal bands like Entombed became stronger. The texts are of a political nature, and above all social grievances are criticized.
