Nightrage is a Swedish - Greek melodic death metal band.

history

The band was founded in 2000 by Marios Iliopoulos (Ex- Exhumation ) and his friend Gus G. , who is also known for his appearances in other bands such as Mystic Prophecy , Dream Evil and Firewind .

After a couple of demo productions, Nightrage made the debut Sweet Vengeance with their final line-up with Tomas Lindberg ( vocals , Ex- At-the-Gates ), Brice Leclercq ( bass , later also with Dissection ), Tom S. Englund (vocals , Evergrey ) and Per Möller Jensen (drums, The Haunted ).

After a line-up change in 2004, Nightrage recorded the second album with Fotis Bernardo (drums, ex- Septic Flesh ) and Henric Liljesand (bass, cipher system ). Descent Into Chaos was launched by Century Media in early 2005 .

After Descent into Chaos was released , Tomas Lindberg left the band due to lack of time. However, a replacement was quickly found in Jimmie Strimell ( Death Destruction ). In February 2007 the new album A New Disease Is Born was released on the German record company Lifeforce Records . In addition to Strimell as the new singer, drummer Alex Sveningsson ( Mindfall ) was also part of the band.

After the release of A New Disease Is Born , the Greek guitarist Constantine Nightrage joined to finally complete the band. However, another devastating line-up change was to follow in mid-2007. So all band members except for Constantine von Iliopoulos were dismissed. A short time later, the hunted members started the pop metal band Dead by April . The following tour with Mnemic and Slowmotion Apocalypse was played almost entirely with live musicians. Some time later, guitarist Constantine got out in order to be able to find more time for a solo project.

Then the band was re-cast. Olof Mörck ( Dragonland / Amaranthe ) replaced Constantine on guitar, Antony Hämäläinen ( Burn Your Halo ) and Johan Nunez ( Suicide of Demons ) took over the positions on microphone and drums. Anders Hammer took on the role of bass player. On February 18, 2010 her fourth studio album Wearing a Matyr's Crown was released .

On September 26, 2011, their fifth album, Insidious, was released . It was announced via Blabbermouth.net that this would contain guest contributions from the original band line-up (including Tomas Lindberg, Tom S. Englund and Gus G.). In April 2012 Nightrage started a European tour with Demon Hunter and Deadlock . In August 2012 the band played for the first time in Asia, where they headlined the Deajon Metal Festival in South Korea .

As the tours were increasingly played with live musicians, rumors arose that the band was again in a phase of line-up. Olof Mörck performed with Nightrage for the last time at the end of 2011 and then returned to Amaranthe. Antony Hämäläinen and Johan Nunez officially left the band in 2013 due to other musical projects. A replacement for Hämäläinen was found in Ronnie Nyman, while the role of drummer remains vacant for the time being.

Her sixth studio album The Puritan was released in May 2015 .
