Monster was a Swedish Ska - Soul - Punk band from Stockholm, which existed from 1994 to 2000.

Band history

Monster met in Stockholm's pub scene. The members were all fans of early British punk, bands like The Clash and Buzzcocks , but also the reggae and ska scene like Lee Scratch Perry , but also American soul music from Motown and Stax .

The first release was the Extended Play Honor Your Friends . A few more singles and EPs followed. In 1997 the debut album Rockers Delight was released on MVG Records . The band also opened for The Hives .

The second album Gone Gone Gone / A Bash Dem was finally released in 1999 via the Swedish punk label Burning Heart .

After a concert on June 19, 2000 at the Hultsfred Festival , the band surprisingly announced their breakup in front of about 1500 spectators.

After the dissolution

The band's singer, Anders Wendin , is now known as Moneybrother . Gustav Bendt, the former saxophonist and background singer also plays for Moneybrother. Other members of the band are active with The Concretes .
