Burning Heart is a 1985 song by Survivor , written by Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan . It is part of the soundtrack to the movie Rocky IV - The Battle of the Century .

history

Burning Heart was published in the United States in October 1985 - later in other countries - and reached number one in the charts in Switzerland and Belgium . In France, the song was awarded the gold record .

The song is 3:51 minutes long and appeared on the Rocky IV soundtrack album. On the B-side of the single is the song Feels Like Love .

The song was particularly inspired by the problem of the Cold War , which becomes clear in passages such as “Is it East versus West?” Or “Can any Nation stand alone?”. So the song fits into the plot of Rocky IV , because here the conflict that divides the communist Soviet Union and the capitalist USA is fought by Rocky and Ivan Drago in the boxing ring. This is clearly shown again by Rocky in the film at the end of the fight when he says in his address after the fight that he would rather have two fight to the death in the boxing ring than if there were thousands out there on the battlefield to do.

After Jimi Jamison , who had sung the song, left the band in 1993, he released the song again in 1999 on his album Empires .
