In 1989 a few teenagers, inspired by heavy metal bands, started making music themselves. Her CD was released by a small label .

Two years later, the singer Joachim Klauenberg left the band, and the then 17-year-old guitarist Herbie Langhans took the place as singer. Because of the change, the band began to think about a new name. Everyone agreed with Seventh Avenue.

In 1993 they released their first demo "First Strike". The demo turned out to be far more successful than expected, so many live concerts followed.

A year later they planned to record their new album "Rainbowland", but due to internal crises it was delayed. The second guitarist suddenly left the band, so Herbie had to play both guitars. After a few months the album was released anyway, again with great success. In 1996 the band signed a contract for two CDs with Treasure Hunt Records. They immediately began recording their next album, "Tales of Tales", with which they made it to 18th place on the Japanese heavy metal charts. In 1997, drummer Louis Schock left the band and Mike Pflüger took his place. Andi Gutjahr was hired as a guest musician for the album "Southgate", which was released in 1998. In 1999 William Hieb also left the band. So Herbie and Mike stood there alone, but after a short time they found a bassist and someone for the second guitar: Geronimo Stade and Florian Gottsleben. Not long after the recording, several concerts followed. Since the demand for the band in Brazil was very high, the label "Megahard Records" bought the license rights for South America to the CDs, so that they pressed the albums directly in Brazil.

At the end of 2001, the recordings for the album "Between the worlds" began. In September 2002 the band embarked on a tour of Brazil organized by WMetal Concerts and Megahard Records. Back in Germany, “Seventh Avenue” signed a contract with the Massacre Records label , with which they released the album “Between the Worlds” in 2003 and “Eternals” in 2004. The bassist Geronimo Stade left the band in 2004 and Markus Beck took over his position.

The album "Terium", the band's first concept album , was released on March 28, 2008 on Massacre Records. In 2009 the album "Southgate" was released in 1998 as a new edition on "Ulterium Records".

The band announced their breakup in September 2012.

In spring 2015 Herbie Langhans founded the quasi-successor "Radiant" with part of the former Seventh Avenue line-up.

Style and meaning

"Seventh Avenue" played European heavy and power metal , which can be compared with the German bands Helloween , Rage or Gamma Ray . Melodic singing and guitar riffs typical of the genre are dominant. The lyrics were based on Christian white metal , without implementing the associated glam rock attitude.

Like many other Christian metal bands "Seventh Avenue" celebrated their greatest successes in South America and Asia .
