Phobia is an American grindcore band from Orange County formed in 1990 .

history

Phobia was founded in 1990 by singer, bassist and guitarist Shane MacLachlan. The history of the band has been marked by numerous line-up changes since it was founded. The first studio album Return to Desolation was released in 1994 on Relapse Records , in the following years a total of seven studio albums were released, the last with the title Remnants of Filth in 2012 on Willowtip Records . In addition, Phobia released numerous singles , splits and EPs . Phobia has performed live with bands such as Chaos UK and Napalm Death and has performed at genre festivals such as Obscene Extreme .

style

The band plays classic grindcore in the style of bands like Repulsion , Terrorizer and Napalm Death . In addition to the grindcore bands of the 1980s, the main influences of Phobia include the hardcore punk with English and Swedish influences.

The texts of the pieces, which are mostly just over a minute long, have politically left-wing content.
