Terrorizer is a grindcore band from Los Angeles , California .

history

The band emerged from the grindcore band Nausea , in which Oscar Garcia and Alfred 'Garvey' Estrada were involved. Terrorizer released their legendary debut album " World Downfall " in 1989 on Earache Records . This album is considered a milestone of the genre in grindcore and death metal circles and had a significant influence on later bands. At that time, co-founder Pete Sandoval was together with David Vincent a member of the death metal band Morbid Angel , which then also advanced to become one of the most influential death metal bands with the album " Altars of Madness ".

Musically characteristic of Terrorizer is the peculiar synthesis of grindcore and typical death metal guitar riffs and rhythms. Especially the extremely fast drumming by Pete Sandoval (next to Mick Harris from Napalm Death) revolutionized the scene for extreme music since the end of the 80s.

The lyrics are entirely of a radical, socially critical nature, which underlines a further influence of Terrorizer's music - namely the left-wing crustcore . B. the Holocaust ( Human Prey ), the global threat from nuclear weapons ( After World Obliteration ), ruthless greed for profit of large corporations ( Corporation Pull-in ) or the suppression of the fate of cattle from the consciousness of the consumer through advertising ( Ripped to Shreds ).

In the 90s, a number of bands tried to succeed with similar concepts without even one being able to come close to the prominent cult status of Terrorizer.

The band reunited in 2005 and released the album "Darker Days Ahead" in the summer of 2006. Shortly afterwards, in August 2006, however, guitarist Jesse Pintado , who had become known especially with the band Napalm Death since 1990 , died of liver failure.

In 2010 Terrorizer reunited with David Vincent on bass. In 2011 the band signed with the Season of Mist label . The current line-up was completed by singer Anthony "Wolf" Rezhawk and guitarist Katina Culture from the punk band Resistant Culture, the duo wrote most of the songs on the 2012 album Hordes of Zombies . Rezhawk also announced that he wants to go on tour as a Terrorizer.
