World Downfall ( Engl. For doomsday ) is the debut album of American grindcore band Terrorizer . The album was released in 1989 through Earache Records .

History of origin

Much of the material still comes from the band Nausea , in which Oscar Garcia and Alfred Estrada were previously active. Before the recordings, Estrada left the band and David Vincent took over his part. Vincent was never an integral part of Terrorizer and was only active as a guest musician. The recordings were made within two days. David Vincent later commented negatively about the album.

At the time of publication, the band had already disbanded. Jesse Pintado joined Napalm Death while Pete Sandoval assisted David Vincent on Morbid Angel . After the breakup, Oscar Garcia returned to nausea. In 2005 the band was reformed.

meaning

World Downfall is now considered a milestone in the genre. The album represents the first work of Scott Burns as a music producer. Burns would subsequently become the most important producer of Florida death metal . The lyrics were socially critical and, as usual for Grindcore, more likely to be assigned to punk .
