Morrisound Recording is a recording studio in Temple Terrace, near Tampa , in the US state of Florida . The studio specializes in all production steps in a music production, so both the recordings and the mixing and mastering are carried out. It is operated by the brothers Jim and Tom Morris. The main clientele consists of metal bands, although the studio is often booked by artists from other genres. In the metal sector, the studio was best known for the productions of Scott Burns .
history
The Morrisound Studios were founded in June 1981 by Jim, Tom and Laurel Morris and Rick Miller as a mobile recording studio in a “Hi Cube” van , equipped with an analog 8-track recording device. In the same month the four founders rented an old building with high ceilings, in which they opened the Morrisound Studio in November 1981 after six months of renovation. The old 8-track recorder was replaced by a 24-track recorder.
In the following four years the studio was able to establish itself and was booked more and more often, which led to the fact that the existing space gradually became too small. In November 1985 the studio was relocated to the current building. As one of the first recording studios in the world, Morrisound Studio already had a website in 1994.
In early March 2011, the Morrisound Studios was broken into. Thousands of dollars worth of equipment and two platinum awards were stolen . The perpetrators had previously cut the power and telephone lines and then fled in a van or even a truck.
description
The Morrisound Studios are divided into two roughly equal studios (Studio A and Studio B), each with an area of approx. 450-500 m². Due to their enormous size, the studios have already been booked to accommodate entire orchestras and church choirs.
