Ascendancy is the second music album by the US metalcore / thrash metal band Trivium . It was released in 2005 through Roadrunner Records .
With Ascendancy, Trivium made their breakthrough in the metal scene. Four singles ("Like Light to the Flies", "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr", "A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation" and "Dying in Your Arms") were released from the album. A video clip was shot for each single. There is also a promo video for "Rain".
The album was recorded at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford ( Florida ) and at Morrisound Recording in Tampa (Florida) under the direction of Jason Suecof and Matthew Heafy. The album was mixed by Andy Sneap .
In the USA the album reached number 151 in the album charts. The album reached number 78 in the UK and sold over 100,000 copies. For this, Ascendancy received a gold record in the summer of 2006 .
In May 2006 the album was re-released. In addition to four bonus songs, the new release includes a DVD with concert recordings that were recorded in London .
