In Waves is the fifth studio album by the American thrash metal band Trivium . It was released in Germany on August 5th, 2011 via Roadrunner Records . In other countries it was released between August 2 and August 9, 2011.
Emergence
The first songs for this album were written in late 2008 and during the 2009 tour. During this time they wrote more than 30 songs. They selected 17 from these in order to further develop and optimize them. It is the first album on which Nick Augusto, her new husband on drums, played. On May 21, 2011 one of the new tracks, In Waves , was unveiled on the official Trivium website. However, this song was hidden in the code of an ASCII image .
When the album was released, Trivium played on the "Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem" festival tour in the United States in 2011 . However, this they stopped to August 5, the day of the show in Germany , on the Wacken Open Air and on August 6, the day of the show in the UK , as special guest of Iron Maiden at the O2 Arena in London to play .
From November to December 2011 there was a European tour, including five dates in Germany, to promote the album.
Versions
In Waves a standard CD version and a limited CD + DVD version were released. The latter includes five bonus tracks as Shattering the Skies Above , previously only on the God of War III - Soundtrack was released. The DVD includes a documentation of the album recording, a live concert from Chapman Studios and the music video for In Waves .
