Butchered at Birth ( English for 'slaughtered at birth') is the second studio album by the American death metal band Cannibal Corpse . It appeared on July 1, 1991 and was confiscated nationwide in Germany in 1994.

background

The album was indexed in Germany by the federal inspection agency for media harmful to minors and later confiscated nationwide. A seizure order according to § 131 StGB of the AG Stuttgart of March 3, 1994 concerns sound carriers, cover and advertising material. The original cover showed two zombies with aprons. One of the zombies is holding an infant in his hands. The other is working a gutted and almost completely skeletonized woman with a knife. The table on which the woman lies is covered with blood and entrails. Other babies hang from the ceiling, some as skeletons or without arms and / or legs. The cover artwork was created by the artist Vincent Locke. A defused version with a neutral cover and no lyrics appeared later in Germany. The cover of the CD and the inner sleeve of the record were also indexed.

particularities

  • The guest vocalist was Glen Benton from Deicide on the song Vomit the Soul .
  • In 2002 the album was re- released as a remastered version, which also includes a live version of "Covered with Sores".
