The Dungeons Are Calling is a 1984 published EP the power metal band Savatage from Florida .
Emergence
The six songs on the EP were recorded during the same three-day studio stay and accordingly with the same line-up as the debut album " Sirens " . In contrast, however, was the song material, which essentially came from the time before the debut album. Thus, all songs on the EP were new recordings of the original material from an untitled demo recorded in 1983 or the EP "City Beneath the Surface" released in the same year under the name "Avatar " . The only exception is the song "By the Grace of the Witch" , which was composed especially for the EP.
The EP was released in 1984 on the music label Combat Records and distributed by Metal Blade .
The EP was first re-released in 1987 by the British label Music for Nations on a CD along with the debut album. A second new edition appeared on Metal Blade in 1994 and featured the previously unreleased song “Fighting For Your Love” and a live recording of the song “Sirens” as bonus tracks . Another re-release by Metal Blade was released in 2002 under the title "Silver Anniversary Collectors Edition". Here the original cover has been replaced by a grayscale version with silver embossing. Curiously, the album went on this pressure on the cover of the title Dungeons Are Calling , whereas on the CD of the original title with the The advance was. The bonus tracks included three demo versions of songs that had been recorded during the sessions for the album " Gutter Ballet " but were not used any further. In addition, a hip-hop- oriented hidden track was included.
The bonus track “Before I Hang” included on the new “Silver Edition” was re-recorded in 2008 for the album “Global Warning” by Jon Oliva's Pain .
