Pet the Preacher is a Danish rock band from Copenhagen that was formed in 2010.

history

The band was founded in 2010, and the singer and guitarist Christian Hede Madsen, bassist Torben Wæver Pedersen and drummer Christian Von Larsen initially wanted to call themselves Meet the Creature. A first EP followed in 2011 with Meet the Creature , before the group's debut album called The Banjo was released a year later . Thereupon Napalm Records became aware of the band, signed them and released the second album The Cave & the Sunlight in the spring . The band then went on tour with Acid King . As in the past, the sound carrier was recorded under the direction of Jacob Bredahl . During the recordings, all instruments were played at the same time, like at a concert. Afterwards only the vocals and an additional rhythm guitar track were added.

style

According to laut.de , the group was heavily influenced by blues , metal and classic rock . The artists here are Led Zeppelin , Black Sabbath and John Lee Hooker . In a rock-hard interview with Jens Peters, band member Madsen stated that he draws his text inspiration from philosophy, love, hate, rebellion and our planet. The concept album The Cave & the Sunlight is about the fact that life consists of a pattern that is constantly repeated. Tomas Kupfer from Rock Hard noted sonic parallels to Alice in Chains in The Cave by The Cave & the Sunlight , while The Dragon Fly was clear stoner rock. In the course of the album you switch between “metal eruptions, bluesy- psychedelic set pieces, […] stoner riffs , seventies rock and gripping grooves ”. The music is comparable to early Monster Magnet , Clutch and Corrosion of Conformity .
