Wormrot is a grindcore band from Singapore .

history

Singer Arif and guitarist Rasyid met in high school . After Rasyid had finished his military service, they jammed together in a Deathgrind project, but decided a little later to form their own grindcore band called Wormrot. Fitri, whom Arif knew from military service, could be hired as the drummer. In 2007 the group recorded their first demo , followed by the second demo Bastardphobic in 2008 . A little later, the recordings began for the debut album Abuse , which was released in 2009 on the Singapore independent label Scrotum Jus Records. The track Born Stupid from this album found its way onto a download sampler from the online magazine Invisible Oranges . This was heard by Digby Pearson, owner of the British label Earache Records . Pearson then got in touch with the band through the label in late 2009 and early 2010 and signed them. The first thing that was released on Earache Records was a re-release of the 2009 album, which until then was only available in Singapore. This was followed by tours through the USA and Europe. In summer 2011 the second album Dirge was released . After completing the European tour in the summer of 2012, Wormrot announced that he was taking a break due to personal obligations and that the next studio album was not expected until 2013 or 2014 at the earliest. In early 2014, the band posted a link to a video on their Tumblr blog that showed them recording tracks for a new album. In the spring, drummer Fitri left the band and was replaced by Vijesh in the summer. The third studio album Voices was released in autumn 2016 .
