Purify (English to purify : to prepare , clean ) is a German thrash metal band from Mainz .

history

Purify was founded in 2000 by the two former Deadspawn members Guido Holstein (guitar; also with Hängerbänd) and David D. (drums; also with Burden ) and completed by Lars (bass) and Markus Hintzen (vocals; today with Disanthrope) . Lars was replaced a short time later by Marten (formerly Jester's Funeral). The position on bass remained problematic and was filled in 2002 by Michael "Eddy" Edele (formerly Atmosphere, Hybrid Theory, Serenity).

Purify initially played with bands like Abandoned or New Blast Chaos and recorded a few demos. After a while, Hintzen and the band went their separate ways, so that bassist Eddy took the position at the microphone until the band broke up. In 2009 Guido and Eddy decided to reunite and started looking for a new drummer and a shouter. Since then, the positions have been filled by Ralf "Wink" Winkmann and Tobias "Mönch" Mönch (formerly Rupture).

In August 2010 they started recording their debut album Hellophile in the Sinustal Studios of Jesus on Extasy guitarist Chai Deveraux, in which they also produce their albums. The final mix took place in the Newave studios. Finally, the band landed on the Aaarrg Records label of Mekong Delta boss Ralf Hubert, who finally released Hellophile for the market in September 2011 .

Already at this time Purify was able to draw attention to itself through club gigs with greats like Contradiction , Jack Slater and Hatesphere as well as an appearance at the Metalfest in Dessau. In 2012 they were able to get another engagement at the Metalfest and also played at the Metalcamp in Slovenia.

On July 19, 2013, the second studio album, Sic Transit Gloria Mundi , was also released via Aaarrg Records .

In October 2013 the band announced on their Facebook page that drummer "Wink" was leaving the band for personal and time reasons. In the same communication, Alex Reichert was introduced as his successor on drums.
